RevOps Champion Alonso Calderón Peña, Data Analyst at Hyperscayle

Q: What brought you to Hyperscayle? What sparked your interest in RevOps?

Alonso’s Answer: I worked for a variety of companies before joining Hyperscayle. In most of my positions, I felt that I was only a gear helping move things forward in the same predetermined direction, but I could not make any meaningful changes. That’s what drove me into RevOps: you are not only a gear that helps things move, but you can actually have an influence on the direction of a company or make meaningful and impactful changes. Seeing those changes you helped bring to light to help one of your clients is one of the major driving forces that brought me to Hyperscayle. From their website to their interview process, I could already see how my skills could be used to influence meaningful choices for the client.

Q: What’s one really important thing you’ve learned by working in RevOps that they don’t teach you in school?

Alonso's Answer: Scoping clients and taking their issues or requests and turning them into actual actionable items is a very fundamental skill in RevOps that is rarely discussed in courses. Some courses do have you working with real businesses; however, the items are already given to you in an actionable way. This conversion is a crucial skill for a RevOps consultant that is only acquired through experience.

Q: What’s the best RevOps career advice you’ve ever received?

Alonso's Answer: Documentation guidance has been crucial to me. I came from a fast-paced environment where solutions were developed to solve immediate problems or patch things up, and often these solutions were not documented properly, so where a similar solution was needed again, most often we had to start from zero. The documentation strategies and advice I learned here on Hyperscayle have helped me develop more scalable and repeatable processes.

Q: What’s a common RevOps myth you’d like to debunk?

Alonso's Answer: A misconception is that a RevOps consulting firm or a consultant will try to sell you or pack your tech stack with solutions you don’t need just for the sake of it or because the firm is familiar with that particular tool. But this could not be further from the truth; our team evaluates every technology, and this evaluation can even result in a reduced tech stack! We only recommend a tool after reviewing it carefully and making sure it is necessary for the business process.

Q: What’s your favorite RevOps tool, strategy, or framework right now?

Alonso's Answer: I like automating tools for tasks we use often. For example, I have a tool based on Python for deduplication and some apps I built on Atlas for data analysis as well. To build these tools, it is necessary to understand the logic, methodology, and the business process.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?

Alonso’s Answer: I love music; listening to it, playing it (drums), and studying it. It is something very rewarding, and I can lose myself in it. I also love stories; it can be a movie, anime, TV show, manga, book, videogame, etc. Any media that can convey a good story, I am a fan of! I also love doing sports, especially football.

Q: What does being a 'RevOps Champion' mean to you?

Alonso's Answer: To me, it means someone resilient through problems and always tries to find the best solution for a client; using a variety of skills and looking through every useful resource possible to achieve a desired result.

At Hyperscayle, we believe that RevOps is more than just process optimization—it’s the backbone of scalable growth. Every RevOps Champion we feature plays a crucial role in transforming revenue operations into a strategic driver of business success.
