RevOps Champion Korey McKinney, Senior Manager, Revenue Operations at Hyperscayle

Q: What brought you to Hyperscayle? What sparked your interest in RevOps?

Korey’s Answer: I previously worked with several of the Hyperscayle team members at a different company. That team was one of the best I had ever worked with, so when the opportunity to join them again came up, I couldn't pass it up. My interest in RevOps was sparked when I was working in FP&A at a SaaS company and the lines between RevOps and Finance were almost non-existent. I enjoyed working with the sales team, helping them devise territories, reporting on weekly/monthly/quarterly targets, and, most importantly, having a seat at the table to discuss which lever we would pull to hit our goals. IT was much more forward-looking in my experience than my previous Finance and Accounting roles that were always focused on what had happened / what the prior period results were.

Q: What’s one really important thing you’ve learned by working in RevOps that they don’t teach you in school?

Korey’s Answer: Everything! As a Finance and Accounting major, my background started off in public accounting, and then I ventured into Business Valuation and eventually FP&A. During my time in FP&A, I worked at a company that was a SaaS product for Clinical Trial design, and the lines between Finance and Rev Ops were extremely blurred. However, to answer the question, cross-functional problem-solving is the most important lesson I’ve learned in my career. Almost anytime you are thinking about changing processes for one team, it has follow-on effects across the entire go-to-market organization.

Q: What’s the best RevOps career advice you’ve ever received?

Korey’s Answer: Relationships matter, and you can’t just assume people will understand and agree with what you are trying to do from a systems or process perspective. Having good relationships with your business partners and team members usually translates into trust, and that helps unblock so much. So make sure you put your ego to the side and foster those relationships!

Q: What’s a common RevOps myth you’d like to debunk?

Korey’s Answer: From my experience, RevOps can get boxed into a “Systems Admin” flavor of roles, and while that is a component of the job, it is a small subset of it. RevOps professionals are at the center of an organization's growth, being trusted strategic advisors to the sales, marketing, and customer success organizations to trailblaze a path from a process and strategy perspective to give the company the best shot at hitting their goals.

Q: What’s your favorite RevOps tool, strategy, or framework right now?

Korey’s Answer: I would be lying if I didn't say something about leveraging AI to enhance processes. For better or worse, these models have an enormous amount of access to data, and when that is paired with domain expertise, you have an extremely powerful combination. From sales methodology to systems build/debug, you can move so much faster leveraging these models, with the caveat that you have to have the context and understanding to be able to tell when something is real vs. fabricated.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?

Korey’s Answer: Right now, my favorite activity outside of work is navigating the ups and downs of raising a toddler with my wife. Whether that is learning that they will want to help with Saturday morning pancakes, or being convinced that the only way they will go to bed is if we have a dance party with all the stuffed animals in the room, it's been a fun and exciting time.

Q: What does being a 'RevOps Champion' mean to you?

Korey’s Answer: It means being a trusted advisor to your direct team and broader GTM organization. Being the person who comes to mind when a particularly thorny problem presents itself in a different department.

At Hyperscayle, we believe that RevOps is more than just process optimization—it’s the backbone of scalable growth. Every RevOps Champion we feature plays a crucial role in transforming revenue operations into a strategic driver of business success.
