RevOps Champion Nick Rose, Co-Founder at Hyperscayle

Q: What brought you to Hyperscayle? What sparked your interest in RevOps?

Nick’s Answer: After my time at Mendix, I knew I wanted what was next, and I didn't want to go work for someone else again.

Every time I tried to explain RevOps, people assumed it was just sales ops or marketing ops, but it isn't the same thing. I couldn't picture going back in-house and having that same conversation over and over.

Around the same time, several private equity firms started asking me to help evaluate their portfolio companies, since we'd already proven we could make a company successful from the inside. It just made sense to build a firm around that.

Q: What’s one really important thing you’ve learned by working in RevOps that they don’t teach you in school?

Nick’s Answer: I went to a strong business program at UCF, but over the years I've worked alongside interns from schools like Harvard and Yale, and I'm consistently surprised by how much of what actually matters in business never gets covered in the classroom. Solid Excel skills are one example.

More importantly, though, is learning how to distill something complex into a clear "how and why" that lands in an executive conversation. That's a skill you only build through years of navigating company politics and understanding what truly matters when solving problems inside complicated systems.

Q: What’s the best RevOps career advice you’ve ever received?

Nick’s Answer: Always take on the hardest jobs nobody else wants. It's easy to look at something difficult and decide to pass on it, but that's exactly the work worth picking up, because that's where real experience comes from. The more you hide behind the easy stuff, the less you actually learn. The faster you take on hard problems, the faster you grow. Don't shy away from it.

Q: What’s a common RevOps myth you’d like to debunk?

Nick’s Answer: RevOps isn't just systems. Systems are a major piece of it, but the people who are truly excellent at RevOps also understand the finance side: the financial go-to-market and business planning work. Overlooking that is a real missed opportunity, because that's where RevOps can drive the greatest impact when partnered correctly with the rest of the business.

I've seen CROs push RevOps down in the org, which is unfortunate, and I think that often comes from feeling threatened rather than seeing RevOps as a true partner. When that partnership works the way it should, there's nothing to worry about.

Q: What’s your favorite RevOps tool, strategy, or framework right now?

Nick’s Answer: I'll admit some bias here, since I'd point to what we've built ourselves: our maturity model and our financial framework for tying hiring decisions back into the P&L. There's good work out there from others, but I haven't seen anyone put it together quite the way we have.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?

Nick’s Answer: My daughter just turned three, and honestly, that's where all my time goes. Spending time with her is what matters most to me right now. Life is short, and kids grow up fast, so I want to be there for as much of it as I can. If it were possible, I'd want to be a full-time dad.

Q: What does being a 'RevOps Champion' mean to you?

Nick’s Answer: To me, it means being the person who keeps the conversation moving forward, whether that's helping people understand what RevOps actually is, helping the function evolve, or simply being a good steward of it. That doesn't happen often enough in this industry. RevOps still has significant room to grow, and people keep trying to rebrand it under new terms, like go-to-market engineering, instead of getting back to the fundamentals.

At Hyperscayle, we believe that RevOps is more than just process optimization—it’s the backbone of scalable growth. Every RevOps Champion we feature plays a crucial role in transforming revenue operations into a strategic driver of business success.
