RevOps Champion Nate Mattison, Senior Marketing Operations Consultant at Hyperscayle
Q: What brought you to Hyperscayle? What sparked your interest in RevOps?
Nate’s Answer: I came to Hyperscayle because 4 of the most talented and kind people I know had joined the Hyperscayle team. My career started in marketing analytics and data visualization, helping right-brained marketers make informed decisions from data.
When I was introduced to Marketo, I quickly fell in love with marketing automation platforms. I’ve always enjoyed helping organizations solve the creative + technical challenges inherent in Marketing Ops. I’m excited to expand my knowledge of additional RevOps platforms to help our clients create meaningful customer experiences and business outcomes.
Q: What’s one really important thing you’ve learned by working in RevOps that they don’t teach you in school?
Nate’s Answer: I’ve learned that when it comes to technology, you aren’t an expert until you’ve learned how something breaks. It’s certainly preferable to learn from others’ mistakes, but it’s also important to fail fast, because that’s where the best learning happens.
Q: What’s the best RevOps career advice you’ve ever received?
Nate’s Answer: I highly recommend the book ‘Essentialism’ by GregMcKeown. Several years ago, when I was at a transition point in my career, this book helped me to understand and articulate my highest point of contribution (i.e., where I add the most value).
Since then, I’ve had significantly more clarity and peace when considering different career options.
Q: What’s a common RevOps myth you’d like to debunk?
Nate’s Answer: RevOps, when done well, is just as much about creating great experiences for customers as it is about generating revenue. While revenue is the fuel every organization needs to accomplish its mission, customers are typically the source of that fuel, so they need to be handled with care.
Q: What’s your favorite RevOps tool, strategy, or framework right now?
Nate’s Answer: I’ve always loved working in Marketo - it’s easily my favorite RevOps tool.
Considering the momentum that Adobe is building with Adobe Experience Platform, I’ve been devoting much of the past year toward building expertise in AEP.
I anticipate several companies will be making the shift from Marketo to AEP (or other platforms) in the years ahead.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?
Nate’s Answer: Outside of work, I enjoy music, pickleball, and camping are my go-to hobbies.
Pickleball is a great indoor sport during the winter, and we go camping as much as possible during the summer.
I play trumpet in our local community band, and most weekends I play piano or bass with our church worship team.
Q: What does being a 'RevOps Champion' mean to you?
Nate’s Answer: To me, being a RevOps Champion means being armed with the knowledge, expertise, and experience to help clients maximize the value of their RevOps technology to deliver great customer experiences and business outcomes.
At Hyperscayle, we believe that RevOps is more than just process optimization—it’s the backbone of scalable growth. Every RevOps Champion we feature plays a crucial role in transforming revenue operations into a strategic driver of business success.
